Yesterday was a busy day for me – I spent the morning at the Hilton Kansas City Airport for the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) MiDiv (Midwest Division) convention. My role at this event was to talk about regional web presence – how a region can communicate and promote itself to its members online, using low-cost or no-cost efforts. The presentation lasted for a full hour, and I didn’t know if all I had to say would take that long. Luckily, there were some great questions and discussions from the audience and it ended up being a lot of fun.

Midway through the presentation, I was surprised by KC Region Board Member Donna Hill, who presented me with the KC Region’s New Member of the Year Award for 2009, which was a total surprise. Sadly, I missed the KC annual meeting, where I would have normally received it, because I was in Miami for work. But it was a great honor to receive and now I have a traveling trophy with my name engraved on it for the next year.
I was actually lucky enough to receive two awards yesterday – along with the KCRSCCA award, I later received the 2009 AAF-Kansas City ad2 Member of the Year award. More on that later…but here’s a photo of both trophies for now.
